How to Spend Less on Incontinence Products (and Get Better Results)

We get it. It is frustrating enough that you are dealing with some incontinence issues… and even more challenging that it can get expensive!

Let’s take a look at how you are shopping and see what we can do to lower how much you are spending to address your needs… and likely improve how much you like your product choices!

Why the Bag Price Can Be Misleading

The reality is that most people look at the cost of a bag of product and decide if it is affordable for them. Sounds pretty logical doesn’t it?

We are going to show you some tips on how to look past the bag price and focus on getting the amount you truly spend to GO DOWN.

Start Saving Immediately with Auto Re-Order

Before we jump into these tips, the very first thing we suggest is to get immediate savings by signing up for Automatic Re-Order programs. This gives you instant savings and most of you will need these supplies regularly anyway.

At IronMed, you get 20% off of your first order when you choose AutoShip and 5% off of every order after that just by choosing how often you would like us to ship product to you. That’s money back in your pocket!

Tip #1: Compare Cost Per Product (Not Per Bag)

OK… so here are some tips we have to drive down cost even more:

Bag price means nothing because most of the bags have different counts in them. The first thing to do is to take the cost of the bag and divide that by how many products are in the bag.

For example, if a bag costs $10.00 and there are 10 products in the bag, each product costs $1.00. THAT is how you compare the actual product cost from one brand to the next.

Tip #2: Understand What You Spend Per Day

Now that you can compare true product cost (see #1 above), it’s time to figure out what you are really spending each day.

If the product you use costs $1.00 per product and you use 7 products every 24 hours, you are spending $7.00 per day.

This is a great time to point out that we offer products that you can change less often (with no leakage and no odor) that can help bring down the amount of money you are spending and deliver much better performance.

Real-Life Example: Spending Less with Better Products

Here is an example from a customer we have that was changing pretty often (out of necessity) and also using Bladder Control Pads inside her Pull Up to try and avoid leakage.

PRODUCT COST  # OF CHANGES/DAY TOTAL COST PER DAY
Economy Product
PULL UP $0.53 9 $4.77
BLADDER COST PAD $0.22 9 $1.98
Total Cost $6.75
Premium Product
PULL UP $1.19 4 $4.76
BLADDER COST PAD $0.00 0 $0.00
Total Cost $4.76

We suggested that she consider switching to a more absorbent (premium) product that did not need additional pads to help stop leakage. Not only did she love the product and save almost $2.00 every day, she also stopped having to do laundry every day because there was ZERO leakage! More money in her pocket! By the way, we showed her actual product cost per product above 😊

Tip #3: Use Prompted Toileting to Reduce Usage

For many of us, Bladder Leakage is our biggest enemy. One way to cut down on your spend is to try what we call Prompted Toileting.

After all, the more times you successfully use the bathroom… the fewer products you’ll need to get you through the day/night.

It’s very simple: Just visit the restroom or bathroom every 2 hours throughout the day and make an attempt to empty your bladder. Not all visits will be productive, but in time you’ll find that by regularly making an attempt, you’ll be successful more than you would have imagined.

Obviously we suggest suspending this during your sleeping hours, but make sure one of your attempts is right before you go to bed!

We’re in This Together

We will have more tips in the future because this is a partnership… and partnerships means helping each other be as successful as possible.

Why Upgrading Can Actually Save You Money

One last word about upgrading to more absorbent products…

We’ve thoroughly tested each manufacturer’s product. We will help you select the right product that can take in fluid repeatedly over several hours and still keep your skin dry and healthy while neutralizing any embarrassing odors.
