FAQ

Why would I need an underpad?
Underpads are designed to be the last layer of defense against leakage for linens and other furniture.
How do I choose between a disposable underpad and a cloth (washable) underpad?
A good general rule is that if you are using a less absorbent Tabbed Brief or Pull Up, a Disposable Underpad is generally the right choice. Leakage is more common in less absorbent products, so a Disposable Underpad would be less expensive for frequent leakage (and less laundry to do!). If you are using a more absorbent Tabbed Brief or Pull Up (that is less likely to leak), a Cloth Underpad is a good "insurance policy" in the off chance that there is leakage. You can use our IronMed Absorbency Score to determine which Tabbed Brief or Pull Up is more absorbent (and this will help you choose between the Disposable and Washable Underpads).
How do I know what size of underpad to choose?
Almost all Underpads are big enough to provide adequate coverage for a bed or other piece of furniture. In general, we see smaller people select smaller Underpads and larger people opt for larger Underpads.
What do I do if my underpad is leaking?
We always recommend using a more absorbent Tabbed Brief or Pull Up in these situations. That alone will help reduce the amount of leakage you are experiencing. You can also choose a more absorbent Underpad. Use our IronMed Absorbency Score to help choose the most absorbent options in these products.

The work as intended!

I am incontinent. I must sleep on a thick, quilted, washable cloth pad. Over this I place one of these pads to keep our bed as clean as we can. These work well, sometimes they can even be used if liquid is minimal. Highly recommended!

Great Product

Excellent product. I use these for my Maltese, so we do not have to go out in the cold, rain, or late nights.

Best pads for absorbance and durability

These are my favorite incontinence pads, and Ive used them all! I have worked in healthcare for over 25 years, and am now the full time family care giver. When hospitals started switching from the old cloth mothers pads to the disposable incontinence pads, a product rep (from Covidien at the time, Cardinal Health bought them out in 2015) came in claiming these could absorb a liter of fluid. Sure enough he dumped a liter of saline on one and we stood amazed. No dripping, no leaking, no tearing, it was amazing. Since that time many other companies have come out with similar products that are better absorbing than the old cloth pads, but none seem to really compare to these. These pads are very soft to the skin softer than some of the cloth pads Ive seen. They are super absorbent, thick, durable, and can easily be used to shift someone in bed.If you need a pad for open air incontinence these are great, but you may need a couple due to the size. If you need a back up for a brief for a heavy wetter, these are for you.Now that I take care of a family member full time, I want the best, and Im not constrained to what I have available at the hospital. I have tried all of the brands. Based on quality, cost, and function, these are my go to. My family member goes less frequently in very large amounts, and is unable to turn themself. If that is not the case for you, then more inexpensive pads may be fine, but if you need real absorbency, and the durability to use them for repositioning, these are the best for the cost. If I had unlimited funds, I would buy these same pads but in the larger length. I just cant justify $5 a pad when I can use two of these, or one of these with a brief for a much lower cost.

Best brand of this type of product!

Highly recommend. This is what the hospital I go to uses. They are super absorbent and comfortable against your skin, especially in hot weather.100 times better than the ones that have a bright blue plastic backing. Theyre much more discreet and fit perfectly in recliner, bed or wheelchair.

Awsome underpads!

I buy these for my blind n deaf shih tzu. They are better than the cheap wee wee pads for dogs. My dog has bladder issues, with her diet it causes her to urinate more frequently. WOW AMAZING! They hold alot of pee pee. I buy the 30x36 under pads. She knows it's her wee-wee pad by the soft feel of the pad! These are a must for a human and or a pet. Thank you Cardinal Health for putting out such a wonderful product. Thank you again Satisfied Customer.......

A very good product!

I use them for bed pads, leg wounds cleaning under pads, I use them to wrap my air cushion that prevents bed sores and ulcers. They really are superior to every other pad I have seen and used. They are tough! This company is reliable. Do not waste your time with repeated trips to the drugstore or Walmart for their crummy pads that come apart easily. Unlike the cheap pads you get at drug stores, these do not pill up, shred, or tear. After a good long while they do delaminate a bit on an edge but that is not much of a problem as I have never had all the layers separate. I was afraid Trump would cause an increase in price, but honestly they came down $10 in price instead.I have been in at least 5 hospitals a minimum of twelve times in the last few years and five nursing homes. These are the best pads I have ever seen. ?? I buy and use them in the long term care facility I am in now. I prefer my own pads to facility owned ones others have been incontinent on. I have been bed bound for the past six years. For various reasons I use them whole, as half sheets or as quarters.

Comfortable, absorbent, and will not bunch up!

These are the same pads used in the hospital where my wife was for her heart attacks and cancer treatments and where I was for my issues. We have used these pads each time we have come home from the hospital. They are very comfortable to lay on. They do not bunch up like other cheap brands do. They absorb so well that the person laying on it cannot tell that they either had an accident in the bed or bled a lot and yet not one drop of blood was on the sheets. Because of the cancer treatments, incontinence became a problem. We continued using the pads as it was easier to reach in the night stand, grab a new pad and spread it out on the bed, protecting the sheets. In the middle of the night, it's much easier to swap a pad, comfortable enough to sleep on, than replace the sheets. It's kind of hard to go back to sleep after changing the sheets on the bed in the middle of the night. You can get right back to sleep after changing a pad in less than a minute!

Chucks or absorbent pads or whatever they're called...

... they do the job well. While taking care of my 96 year old incontinent father after his discharge from the hospital, I've found that none of these pads have ever leaked. Not once. And I'm almost fi ished with my second box. I chose Cardinal Health because that's the brand the hospital used and I figured the hospital had more insight into quality than I did. Other brands may be cheaper but why take a chance with leakage. These pads do the job.

This isnt my first review! Product is great!

I first used these during a short hospital stay and noticed how well they worked with bladder leaks. Also was taking water pills and when you gotta go theres no stopping it. I was happy to have found them here I just wish they werent so expensive.I tried the medline pads while waiting for my second order but they were horrible!! Not good with absorbency and when I tried to get up it was leaking off the pad onto the floor! Literally pooled on the pad!Ill stick with Cardinal Health brand thank you very much!!
