Underpads for Bed, Chair, and Furniture Protection

A leak does not have to end with a ruined mattress. Underpads sit between a person and whatever they are sitting or lying on, soaking up moisture before it ever reaches the fabric underneath.

IronMed stocks over 150 of them, including Cardinal Health, Attends, Prevail, Presto, and 20-plus other brands in the mix, sized anywhere from a compact 23" x 24" up to a bariatric 40" x 57". What follows: disposable versus reusable, how to actually get the size right, and what those absorbency labels are supposed to mean.

Disposable or Reusable?

Toss it and move on, that is the whole pitch for disposable. No washing, no drying, nothing to remember later. Cardinal Health's Wings Basic line starts around $0.73 a pad and tops out near $2.19, size and case count moving the number, which keeps daily use cheap even at high volume.

Reusable changes the math entirely. A Carefor Deluxe pad, or one of Cardinal Health's Essentials reusables, costs more going in, somewhere in the $7.50 to $24.47 range. But it comes back after a wash. Somebody swapping pads several times a day, every single day, often ends up ahead within a couple of months. The catch is obvious: it needs a working washer nearby and a little extra effort per change.

Getting the Size Right

Too small and it shifts around. Too big, and it wastes money for zero benefit. IronMed's range breaks roughly into four bands.

Size Range

Typical Fit

23" x 24" to 23" x 36"

Chair seats, wheelchair cushions, smaller coverage areas

30" x 30" to 30" x 36"

Standard bed protection, the most common size ordered

34" x 36" (with flap)

Tucks under the mattress edge for a more secure hold

36" x 51" to 40" x 57"

Bariatric and XXL coverage, larger beds or wider frames

Most standard bed setups fall somewhere in that 30" x 30" to 30" x 36" middle band. Bariatric sizing is not an upsell. A pad too small for a larger frame just fails at its one job.

What Do Basic, Plus, and Maximum Mean?

Naming shifts by brand, but the logic underneath stays roughly the same everywhere. Cardinal Health runs Basic, Plus, and Extra under its Wings line, each tier packing in more absorbent core than the last. Attends its own version with Supersorb Advanced and Supersorb Maximum, the top tier aimed at longer stretches between changes.

A daytime chair pad rarely needs the top tier. Overnight is where it earns its keep. A heavy or maximum-rated pad can hold several hours of output without pooling at the edges, which is exactly the point for someone sleeping through the night with no change in between.

How Long Does One Actually Last?

Disposable is single-use, full stop. Saturated, or a full day gone by, and it is replaced. Reusable is a different story: most of these pads survive 200 or more wash cycles before absorbency noticeably drops off. Warm cycle, skip the fabric softener, and the absorbent layer keeps doing its job a lot longer.

Already know the type? IronMed keeps reusable underpads and disposable underpads as their own separate collections. This whole category lives inside the broader incontinence supplies range, next to diapers, pull-ups, and pads. Orders ship in 1 to 2 days, and returns are accepted within 30 days if the size or type ends up wrong.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size fits a standard bed?

30" x 30" or 30" x 36" handles most standard bed setups. Bariatric frames need the bigger 36" x 51" to 40" x 57" range.

Do reusable pads actually save money over time?

For daily use, usually yes. That $7.50 to $24.47 upfront cost tends to even out against disposables within a few months.

200 wash cycles. Is that really accurate?

Roughly, for most of the reusable pads sold here. Absorbency starts to fade past that point, though washing habits shift the number somewhat.

HSA or FSA eligible?

Yes, across this collection.
